Did you know April is Earth Month? What a perfect time to celebrate by cleaning up the house the green way and purging the cabinets of toxic chemicals.  We have done our best since the kids were born to switch to chemical free cleaning and personal care products. Thanks to #CollectiveBias we were able to restock some #NaturalGoodness and mark one room off our spring cleaning to do list.

Follow this printable spring cleaning checklist for an easy method to a spotless natural bathroom.  Along with these tips for purging the cabinet of toxic chemicals and stocking with natural brands like Tom’s of Maine.

The first step is clearing out everything. Start by removing bath toys, baskets, and bathroom jars. Dishwasher safe items can take a trip in the top rack.  Double check bath toys and plastic items to make sure they can withstand the high temperatures.

Next, remove your shower curtains and bath rugs. Send them through the washing machine on a sanitizing cycle.  I prefer the fabric shower liners because they are easily laundered to prevent mildew.

With a clean slate it’s time to get down and clean.  Prep the shower and bath with miracle soap scum remover.  It’s the only way I clean the bathtub, only 2 ingredients and no elbow grease required.  While it works its magic use pure vinegar to clean the counters, faucets, cabinets, and drawers.

As you get ready to organize each cabinet keep a waste bin and the checklist near by.  Decide where you want to start to purge the chemicals. For us we started with chemical free cleaning.  Next up we eased into dumping the chemicals in our personal care products.  It was important to us that our children started young living green; we have always used natural personal care and oral care products for them.

Naturally when it was time for my husband and I to  make the switch we went with a brand we already trusted.  Tom’s of Maine offers a huge line of natural personal care products free from artificial fragrances, colors, flavors, or preservatives.  As a company I love their transparency in ingredients and best practices.

Right now you can stock up on Tom’s of Maine at Walmart with this awesome $1.00 off coupon.  Walmart carries a large selection of Tom’s natural personal care and oral care products.  We picked up Tom’s of Maine Long Lasting Apricot Deodorant and a variety of toothpastes for the whole family.

My kids personal favorite is Silly Strawberry™ Fluoride Toothpaste.  I like to switch up my toothpaste each night and love the Antiplaque & Whitening Peppermint Fluoride Free Toothpaste while my husband opts for the Whole Care® Peppermint Toothpaste.  And guys I LOVE their deodorants.  I searched for years for one that worked.  I’ve been using Tom’s of Maine natural deodoran-AP since this fall.

I’ve read horror stories of mold getting into children’s bath toys, and I try to remember to wash ours regularly, but I never used the dishwasher. That’s a great idea! #client

Carrie, I always used to hand wash or soak in the bathtub, never again. The dishwasher worked so well and sanitized too!

The checklist is really helpful. I have never used schedules and checklists for my cleaning but since the kids came into our lives I realized that I can’t manage the house work anymore. Thanks for the post! The idea of cleaning the toys in the dishwasher is awesome! 🙂

I like that you are using just natural cleaning products! I am also trying to avoid the usage of toxic cleaners. They are more harmful than helpful! Thanks for the cleaning checklist!!
