After School Snacks & Dips: Sharing a Bit of the Past

In just 2 weeks my little guy will be heading off to his first full year of school.  Cliche or not, time does fly, and it feels like just yesterday that I myself was off to school.  The other day we sat down for some easy to make snacks and a little walk down memory lane.  It’s always fun to share old pictures of yourself as kids.  My kids are always amazed that the fiery haired little girl was me. 

On our little memory walk it was fun to share my favorite #AfterSchoolSnacks too.  As a kid I loved popping a couple Bagel Bites in the microwave while I did homework.  As my son says I’m a “cheese sauce” kind of girl.  It’s a perfect after school snack made with real cheese and homemade sauce with 0g trans fat.  We like to pair ours with bell peppers on the side.  

In college my husband’s and my favorite study snack food was Delimex flour taquitos.  Let’s be honest they sometimes made a delicious meal too.  Here are just a few of our favorite dipping sauces:  

hot sauce or salsa
guacamole
refried beans
spicy taco sour cream- a mixture of your favorite taco seasoning and sour cream.

While out school shopping Aiden and I picked up our easy to make snacks at Walmart.  Both the bites and taquitos are quick and easy fixins.  Lately both boys have been eating us out of house and home.  I feel like we have two teenagers, they are bottomless eating machines.  With a few toppings and dip selections we have a nice snack that’s easy to make and filling.

I think a formal after school snack is going to be a school year staple.  It gives us some time right after school to talk about the day and unwind.  He gets so excited about what he’s learned and made in school, he can’t wait to share.    You can save on Delimex and Bagel Bites with these coupons.
