Some mornings call for a quick out the door breakfast. The whole family enjoys granola bars, but I want something without those unnatural ingredients. I’ve been experimenting to find the perfect recipe. One that holds together, doesn’t use butter, and tastes good with a good texture. If you love a Quaker Chewy Granola bar you’ll love these chocolate peanut butter granola bars.
Ingredients:
2 c. oats
2 c. rice cereal
1/2 c. honey
1/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla
Pinch of salt
1/4 c. chocolate chips
Place honey, brown sugar, and peanut butter in a microwavable bowl. Melt for 1 minute in the microwave. Stir. Put in microwave for one more minute.
Place oats and cereal in a large bowl. Mix together. Add vanilla and pinch of salt to melted ingredients. Mix together.
Pour melted mixture over oats and cereal. Mix thoroughly.
In a 9×13 pan prepared with parchment paper place mixed ingredients. Push ingredients down firmly. Sprinkle top with chocolate chips. Carefully press into mixture. Place in fridge for 1 hour. Cut into bars.
