Get ready for the big game with these ideas for giving your guest bath a little refresh with mega impact! Plus a tutorial for an easy DIY Mason Jar Soap Dispenser. Everything you need to get your bathroom game day ready without all the fuss.
Part of hosting is providing your guests with comfort. The peace of mind to know everything they need is right there without asking. For me a little prep work and forethought helps make the task of hosting stress free too. While I might hide piles of papers and whisk the toys away I always like the guest bathroom to be clean and put together. A basket of toilet paper is an easy way to make sure guest won’t run out, and adds a clean element to the decor.
With 3 boys in the house, outnumbered for life over here, we go through a lot of toilet paper. It’s a constant struggle to keep the roll loaded. A house full of guests and an empty roll can lose the game quickly. My boys have met their match though with Quilted Northern Ultra Soft & Strong® Mega Rolls. The rolls are mega sized with 4 regular rolls in one meaning less roll changes; that’s a touchdown in my book!
I love hosting themed parties and it’s always fun to bring the bathroom into the decorating game as well. For this rustic bathroom refresh I stuck with a simple understated football elements.
I loved the idea of bringing grass into the design. It provided a natural element reminiscent of turf to liven up the space. Adding a couple grassy plants helped to brighten and freshen up our guest bath. I filled apothecary jars with cotton balls and swabs to enhance the rustic/vintage feel of the other accessories.
No fouls in this game with a splash of color from golden yellow washcloths. Rolled up in a wooden tray on the counter puts them right on hand for guests. Washcloths are a nice alternative to a single bath towel when you have a crowd coming over. Roll and pile them as high as you need based on the crowd size.

I saved my favorite for last! I’ve been wanting to make my own mason jar soap dispensers for a while. I’ve seen kits, but I’m not a fan of metal soap dispensers. They seem to oxidize quickly, so I decided to DIY my own mason jar soap lid. All you need is a quart mason jar, washi tape, amber sea glass spray paint, plastic soap bottle (large cylinder bottle with a flat top). Make sure your mason jar ring fits snuggly over the top. This will be replacing the lid portion inside the ring.
- Place a strip of washi tape down the center of your jar. I ended up cutting mine in half to make the lacing thinner.
- Cut 1.5″-2″ strips to place across the center strip for laces.
- Spray a base coat of sea glass paint onto the jar. Make sure to work at least 12 inches away to avoid any drips.
- Allow the paint to dry 1-2 minutes before applying additional coats. The sea glass paint builds. One or two layers will give it a transparent glass look. 3-4 coats give it a matte finish that is opaque.
- Allow it to dry completely, about 10-15 minutes. Slowly peel of the washi tape to reveal the football laces.
- Empty the contents of your soap bottle into the dried mason jar.
- Cut the top of the bottle off using scissors or a box cutter. Check to make sure the mason jar ring fits, then trim so it fits flush.
- Place the cut bottle top inside the mason jar ring, insert the stem, screw on top of your dried mason jar.
- Make sure to prime your pump before your guests arrive.
