DIY Valentine’s Tablescape

I LOVE Valentine’s Day.  The colors, the hearts, a special time to really appreciate those you love.  We tend to transition right from Christmas decorations to Valentine’s.  Over the years I’ve added more and more to my holiday decorations.  This year with the help of Oriental Trading Company I added an all new tablescape and mantle decor.  Today I’m sharing these easy Valentine’s tablescape.  

With a few supplies from Oriental Trading we had an easy playful tablescape.  Conversation hearts and x’s & o’s were my color and theme inspiration.  The anchor of the table was the xoxo table runner.  Created with red and white card stock and a paper cutter to cut out various size x’s and o’s.  They became the inspiration for the interactive placemats; a simple craft my oldest helped me assemble with just a few supplies.

SUPPLIES:
adhesive backed cork
Valentine colored felt
white washi tape

DIRECTIONS:

• Remove the paper from the adhesive cork.
• Carefully position the end of the felt and roll onto the sticky side of cork.  Smooth down making sure there are no bubbles and all edges are secure.  
• Take strips of thin washi tape and rip into two 3″ strips for each placemat.  Cut each strip in half.
• Place washi tape in a tic tac toe grid in the bottom corner.  Guests can use the xoxo table runner for playing pieces.

Finish your table setting with a plain white plate and paper doily heart.  Mason jars and striped paper straws add to the playful charm.  Everything you see on the tablescape can be found on OrientalTrading.com.
