These cards are so simple and the perfect handmade card for Christmas. My mother-in-law found the idea a couple years ago. With her vision and my crafting skills we created these cards for her to send out last year. There are so many different ways you could embellish: pinking shear the ends to look feathered, use different colored ribbon to give an ombre look, add a star on top made from felt. You can truly personalize every card.
Supplies:
ribbon
cards
sewing machine
scissors
- Cut ribbon into strips that diminish in size. Leave edges unfinished or cut at a slant with scissors or pinking shears.
- Sew through the center of your card. Do not back stitch (it will make a mess of your card).
- Knot both ends of the thread to secure.
Tips:
Set aside a specific needle for paper crafting. Card stock will dull your needles.
Use a wide stitch to prevent your card from tearing.
Try decorative stitches like zig zag, just make sure to keep your stitch length long.
Paper creates more dust than fabric. Clean your machine after sewing on paper or card stock.
