I can’t tell you how excited I am to come across this, new to me, cloth diaper company. Go Green Diapers launched right around the time we started diapering our little dude (2010). I’m sad to say I’ve never owned one. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but before even taking it for a test drive I was really impressed with many of the features.
The diagram is fantastic, but doesn’t do all those features justice. Both hubby and I were swooning over our new cloth. Here’s what we loved:
-Hip snaps, especially for a wiggling toddler. Helps to keep the diaper where you put it.
-Interior snap to keep your insert in place. This was what I was jumping for joy on. I have many favorite brands we use, but hate when I pull the diaper up the liner drops down and you’re left with a gap and potential leaking point.
-Color coded sizing. Okay, I’m going to admit something here, I thought it was just a pretty accent. My husband was the one that pointed out that it made sizing easy. That way you can say, yep, my kids on orange or green and don’t have to do the whole counting in and making sure it’s symmetrical.
-Dual gussets that don’t just extend on the legs. They go all the way up to the hip in back and up to the pelvic bone in front. Our little guy is trained except at night so we haven’t tested out the durability of this feature, but in just a few short weeks baby brother will get to do the final test run.
-Double PUL, it’s not that sticky kind that makes it difficult to stuff diapers. There’s a soft mesh like coating that makes it easy to stuff.
-Waterproof insert stopper. I didn’t even realize this one until I read the diagram. I noticed the different fabric in the front, but didn’t realize it’s function. I’ll talk about how everything held up in a minute.
-Not featured on the diagram is the oh so soft liner. It is the softest I have ever felt.
So… how did it hold up? Our toddler, a heavy nighttime wetter, slept almost through the night (4:30)! This is exciting news as he usually wakes up because he’s so wet at around 12:45. He usually soaks through a diaper and sometimes we have to do a sheet change. At 4:30 he came in to let me know he was wet. He did have some compression leakage, but I’m sure that’s what it was because it wasn’t at the legs or top, but rather at his bum. And I’m positive he slept for so long wet, because the liner did a fantastic job wicking away the moisture. The liner felt dry, not usually the case, but the inserts were beyond saturated.
I am happy to recommend this diaper to any cloth diapering family. This would be a wonderful starter line for any family and a fantastic add-on to any cloth diaper stash. I’m adding a few more to my baby registry.
