DIY Poison Bottles + Easy Halloween Mantle

10/18/2015

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

These DIY Poison Bottles were crafted with supplies provided by Oriental Trading. All spooky ideas and opinions are my own.

DIY Poison Bottles
What is Halloween without a witch or two.  They fly around on brooms and concoct spooky potions, and sometimes they come with a little stylish flair.  When I was little it was all about Hocus Pocus, I was Winifred of course with the curly ginger hair.  Can’t you just see the Sanderson sisters using a bottle or two of these special DIY poison bottles.  No need for magic here though, this is one craft that is so easy and requires only preschool craft skills: cut and paste.

DIY Poison Bottles
Supplies:
dark glass bottles
poison scrapbook paper
Modge Podge
scissors

Directions:

  1. Cut out your poison labels. Use poison scrapbook paper or print up labels.
  2. Apply Mod Podge to the back of the label with a brush.
  3. Place label onto your glass bottles.  Apply another layer of Modge Podge on top to seal.
  4. Clean any excess glue around the edges with a wet rag.

Tip: If you don’t have dark glass bottles on hand you can create your own with a little Modge Podge and food coloring.

DIY Poison Bottles
Fiddleback Spider Venom and Deadly Nightshade were the perfect addition to my Halloween Mantle.  Everything pulled together with a few items from Oriental Trading, a couple handcrafted items, and few things I had on hand that were already adorning the mantle.

Halloween Mantle

  • Halloween Pennant- double sided with Happy Halloween on one side and solid Halloween prints on the other.  I used the shorter string to add height and dimension to my mantle.
  • DIY Poison Bottles
  • Lantern
  • Rustic Metal Charger
  • Canvas wrapped in craft paper with 3D paper bats.
  • Halloween Mason Jar Luminaries
  • BOO Scrapbook Letters (tutorial coming)
