We escaped the heat and took the whole family up to Sedona. And boy was it cooler. Down in the creek we had 76* days and 61* mornings. We had so much fun relaxing and showing Aiden around Sedona.
Sedona is the perfect family getaway. Beautiful weather and tons of places to enjoy the outdoors with the family. We didn’t do any hiking and stuck to exploring the shops and taking strolls along the creek. We loved the downtown shops. There was plenty of things to keep our toddler busy. The Sedona Arts Center put up several interactive musical exhibits throughout the downtown shops. Pink Jeep Tours even had one of their jeeps for the kids to climb around and take some photo ops.
We visited one of my favorite places in Sedona, Junipine. A lovely collection of 50 creek houses nestled along the Oak Creek. As a kid I remember staying in one of the creek houses with a loft. My brother and I got to camp out up there. What I remember most is the quiet and the beauty of the creek. Junipine has it’s own private stretch of the creek on property; no crowds, and no $20 entrance fee (Slide Rock).
We were happy in our 2 story, 2 bed, 2 bath creek house. There were no complaints all 3 of our decks overlooked the creek. During the day we explored the property. We discovered a grassy meadow with a swing, basketball hoops, walking paths along the creek, and the most beautiful weather. At night we snuggled in to watch Wall-e and listen to the creek rushing. Junipine has an extensive collection of DVD’s to lend. There were classics and a few new releases. I was happy to see they still had a few board games to lend out too. They also have a cafe on property (closed Monday).
Make sure to follow Junipine on Facebook to stay current on current specials and happenings at the resort.
Disclosure: I contacted Junipine for this post. We were provided with one nights accommodation in a creek view house. As always all opinions are my own.
