Is there a little evil lurking below the surface? Do you enjoy a little mischief now and again? Well that’s just how the Disney villains kids saw themselves in the newest Disney Channel Original film, Descendants.  To celebrate the release of the film, now available at Walmart, we decided to craft up a fun recipe inspired by the movie and soundtrack.

This new film tells the story of a kingdom divided and answers that question; what would happen if our favorite fairy tales continued.  The once feared villains are entrapped on an island of misfits, while the “heroes” live in a utopia called Auradon.  A proclamation from the soon to be crowned king, Ben- Belle and The Beast’s son, provides opportunity to the children of the greatest worst villains of all time.  Will they seize the opportunity or take advantage of it.

In true Disney fashion this film is not short on music.  It comes off much like a musical, similar to other summer Disney Channel releases.  We could not get the store fast enough to scoop up our own copy of the film and soundtrack.  Mind you it only aired 2 weeks ago on Disney channel, but we have viewed it no less than 5 times.  With DVD and CD in hand we were ready to whip up a little evil spell.

#Disney Descendants, NOW on DVD @Walmart. #VillainDescendants. Plus a recipe for Rotten to the Core caramel apples
For these caramel apples you only need 4 ingredients, plus a little lemon to keep the apples from browning, we don’t want them really rotten.  This was my first time attempting jello from scratch and I can tell you this is a very simple recipe to make.  More chemistry than baking or cooking.

Directions:

Slice apples in half, then hollow with a melon baller.  Leave a small bowl for the jello to sit in.

Prepare caramel jello using the recipe below.

Place apple halves on a cookie sheet.  Pour an even amount of jello mixture into each hollowed apple.  There should be enough to fill 2 medium apples completely.

Place apples in the fridge until the jello is firm, 2-3 hours.  Set apples on a cutting board and slice into quarters.

YUM!  Don’t those apples look especially evil, dare I say “Rotten to the Core”.
