With football season in full swing I thought it was time to craft up some homegate worthy decor. Whether you are cheering on the home team or routing for your alma mater these football coasters are perfect for your at home watch parties. And because these coasters took just minutes to throw together, I’m sharing how I rounded out my football party decor with 2 fun ways to dress up your drink containers and bottles too. Thanks to Scotch® Brand products there’s a solution for all my craft needs, helping me get things done!
Ideally I was looking for astroturf or some sort of artificial grass to make these coasters. Alas, no luck in that department on short notice, but I did have a grass green doormat on hand that I’ve used for previous football themed mock-ups. It was the perfect material for these football coasters.
Supplies:
astro turf or grass green carpet
Scotch® Create Super Glue 4 Pack
cork board
Scotch® Brand utility knife
cutting surface
Directions:
Cut your cork and faux grass to size. I found a 3.25″x3.25″ square was perfect for most cups and beverage containers.
Apply a small dab of Scotch® Create Super Glue to the edges and middle of the cork board. Place the carpet square on top carefully, and apply light pressure to create the bond.
Flip grassy side up, then take it for a test run.
I also repurposed an old set of terra cotta coasters by painting them with black chalk paint. They go better with our indoor decor now, but seriously how cute do they look with a little playbook chalk action.
Of course a coaster has no use without a cold drink. To continue with the easy football DIY theme I used Scotch® Expressions White Glitter Tape and Scotch® Create Double-sided Tape to help me make a touchdown with these football milk jars and referee water bottles.
Just remove the store bought labels on your water bottles to use as a pattern, cut black and white striped paper to size, then add a strip of Scotch® Create Double-sided Tape.
Now you’re ready to put this ref right in the center of the action.
The football jars are so simple too! I loved the shape of these milk jars I had on hand, they just screamed football to me. All you need is one strip of Scotch® Expressions White Glitter Tape cut it in half: one for the middle and one for the laces.
Fill ’em up with a can of your favorite cola, or iced coffee, and you’ve got a football worthy of making a field goal.
All these simple football crafts were made possible by Scotch® Brand products I picked up at my local Walmart. They have a great selection for all your crafting needs. For more hands on crafty ideas checkout the link here.
