Rustic Farmhouse Bathroom Refresh

I haven’t shared much on the blog, but we moved into our forever home back in February. It was a spec and gorgeously upgraded, but many of the fixtures were still builder grade. We’ve been working slowly to makeover each room in the house to get it just the way we like it. I’m excited to show you how simple it is to take a builder grade bath from drab to fab with just a few essential decor items.

Now seemed like a great time to give the spare bathroom a little refresh. To get ready for summer guests I headed to Target to stock up on the essentials, like toilet paper, and some fun farmhouse decor pieces. Starting June 20th stock up on Quilted Northern Ultra Soft & Strong® Mega Rolls at Target with a Cartwheel.  The mega rolls are my favorite with more sheets per roll, 4 rolls in 1 to be exact, translating to less changes.

As you’re out shopping don’t limit yourself to what’s in the bathroom and home decor aisles.  Summer is the perfect time to pick up some great items in the seasonal garden department for your farmhouse makeover.

I started out by taking down the towel rods, patching the holes and adding some hooks in their place. A few new towels refreshed the area and instantly gave the room an upscaled look.

Along the wall I added a made over wicker drawer for some added storage and to fill the space. On top was the perfect spot to place a rustic basket to hold extra Quilted Northern® Mega Rolls for our guests.

We’re lucky to have a window in our spare bathroom, and a small space to add a shelf. This picture ledge was the perfect size to add a little decor and design to the space. I pulled items from around the house and even repurposed an old rake. Add wood and metal elements to bring in that rustic look with a bit of greenery to bring in the natural aspect. On the tank a pitcher filled with cotton stems really brings home the farmhouse look.

On the counter a galvanized tier tray I had on hand already worked perfect to hold bathroom necessities. Mason jars hold cotton balls and cotton swabs, and a glass spice jar also from the kitchen department holds bath salts for guests.  And how cute is that little chalkboard bird?!  Think simple elements that will add a bit of function and design to the space.  Utilize things you have on hand along with some new pieces to give your farmhouse bathroom a little refresh.

Some greenery in the form of a boxwood topiary and fun greenhouse terrarium bring in more of the natural element.  A decorative bath bar sits a top a natural stone soap dish.

To recap: stock up on essentials for guests, fill the room with natural elements like greenery, wood, and metal. Then shop outside the standard home decor departments. Think creatively in new ways to use items from other departments. The seasonal aisles and kitchen department are great for shopping for things like glass jars, wood trays, and silk florals.  Grab everything to makeover your bathroom and stock up on essentials like Quilted Northern® Mega Rolls at Target.

    I really like the look of this “Rustic Farmhouse” bathroom – especially all of the accessories! One thought I had was about the rake head. Instead of placing it on the back of the toilet, maybe it could be useful for hanging things on the upturned tines (by attaching part of the handle/pole into the wall). Items such as a hand towel, brushes, or decorative items would be perfect for this!
