Christmas Book Advent
To me the holidays are about traditions and memories.  Each year as I pull out the decorations, trim the tree, and wait for Christmas morning; it’s a celebration.  We started a new tradition last year I’m looking forward to continuing.  The advent calendar has been an ongoing battle in our house between my husband and I; count-up? or count-down?.  We created a fun book advent for the boys to get in on the fun.  They love reading and it’s a fun way to add to their library each year.

We collect 25 books, old and new,  then wrap one for each day starting with November 30th.  Each night they get to pick one book from under the tree to read.  We number some of them to save for special days.  This year I wrapped them up like a little brown paper package under the tree.  I used a small strip of washi tape on the edge of each book and placed a washi bow right on top.

Christmas Book Advent
This year we added 2 new books to their collection based on the Hallmark Orignal movie Northpole: Once Upon A Northpole Christmas story book and Lights on Lights off storybook.  Each boy received a new book to open and a magic snowball too.  Throughout the season we gift them with little things they can hold on to year to year.  I know every year they pull out these glowing snowballs they’ll remember the laughter from years past.

I found a large selection of toys from Northpole by Hallmark at Walmart.  There was a little bit of everything.  From toys for the kiddos, interactive books, games, keepsakes, and even baking supplies.  I love the Find Me Santa snowflake that came with the Once Upon A Northpole Christmas story book, a Walmart exclusive gift set. The boys can’t wait to turn the beacon on Christmas Eve to help guide Santa to our home.

The boys couldn’t wait to start reading the books and launching snowballs at each other.  The interactive Lights On and Off book kept them entertained forever.  Make sure to watch after all the lights are turned off for a fun little surprise.
