Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right? Yet I can count more times I have skipped breakfast because our house was running late or I lacked motivation. My son always gets fed, but I like him to have something more filling than a bowl of cereal most mornings. Over the years I have found several tricks for getting everyone out of the house on time with a full belly.
It all begins with the prep for me. If I have healthy quick options available in the house I’m starting out on the right foot. Granola Bars, yogurt, juice, coffee, fruit these are all items I regularly buy at the grocery store. Planning also makes it easy for me to save. I love my Safeway app for finding deals and planning out my savings. I found out about Safeway’s current BUY 4 SAVE $4 breakfast deals using the app and also quickly made my grocery list.
So here are my quick fix breakfast tips & ideas for meals to get your morning started right.
Prep Tips:
Buy pre-portioned (like granola bars) or pre-sort any dry goods into portion sizes to make fixing quick in the morning.
Set out everything the night before. Pull plates, cups, and any non-perishable items and put out on the counter.
Prep the coffee the night before; even if you don’t have a programmable coffee maker. Get your water and coffee measured, then you’re just a button away the next morning to fresh brewed coffee.
Quick Meal Tips:
If your really strapped for time or need to take your food on the run go for something with high fiber, like a BelVita breakfast biscuit, to keep you full longer. Pair it with an easy to take fruit like an apple or banana.
Yogurt is a perfect base to a healthy and quick breakfast. It’s easier to digest than milk, high in protein, and helps to absorb many fantastic nutrients like calcium and B-vitamins.
Granola bars like Nature’s Made are the perfect pre-portioned, high fiber topping for your yogurt.
Top your yogurt with blueberries, bananas or sliced strawberries, rounding out the perfect filling breakfast.
