Towards the end of pregnancy our body prepares us for those mid-night wakes and constant sleep deprivation What it doesn’t prepare us for is having to stay alert and function in the middle of the night. I am lucky enough with baby boy #2 to have no feeding issues and we are exclusively breastfeeding. This means I’m on my own at night.
I struggled the first few nights to stay awake enough to encourage Emerson to also stay with me and get a good feed in. I didn’t want to put the TV on and wake my husband, he does not do well sleep deprived. Can you say walking dead. An attempt to use the flashlight setting on my iPhone was no luck. It had no directionality and I wasn’t able to hold and nurse at the same time.
I was so relieved when my Nighty Night Nursing Light arrived in the mail just a couple days after arriving home. We are now off and running thanks to this fantastic mommy invention. Emerson is feeding well and getting in 2-3 hour stretches at night. I’m waking refreshed and can function most days without a nap.
