I’m signing in late to my first #Mamavation Monday. I’ve been limited in my digital access while on a Conference Trip for Thirty-One Gifts. I’m leaving one adventure filled with supportive and motivated women and diving into another. For those of you not familiar with Mamavation it’s a fantastic group of women devoted to supporting one another in their quest to lead a healthy lifestyle for themselves and their family. I’ve longed for a group of women like this and everything fell into place when I began blogging.
I’ve stood in this same exact spot many times before. High off a week of success; motivation laid out in front of me. In the past it would soon subside and I would find myself falling off the bandwagon filled with a basket of excuses. This time though it’s different, I have many people in my corner that will be there for me. I’ve had the support in the past, but somehow having other women that are going through the same struggles as I am so close at hand makes me more determined than ever. Here we all are with one goal in mind, accomplish a healthy lifestyle so we can be there for our children and set them up for a healthy life. This group makes me feel more accountable for my actions as we have the same story and I want us all to have a happy ending.
This past month I have been taking baby steps towards a healthy lifestyle. It began when we joined Bountiful Baskets and I made a pledge to try new fruits and veggies. I’m by no stretch of the imagination adventurous when it comes to food. In fact I’m quite the opposite. I won’t eat certain foods because of the texture mainly and rarely give it another try. However, this month alone I have eaten strawberries, pluots, and cooked carrots just to name a few. I know strawberries how adventurous.
I also avoided the throngs of women taking the escalator while at conference and opted for the stairs. I walked all over Columbus and only took the shuttle early in the morning and late at night. I felt such a sense of accomplishment walking up and down those stairs and arriving back to the hotel drenched from the muggy humid air. I’m from a dry heat and I just don’t do humidity.
I am so excited to start out on this adventure with the support of a whole social world of moms.
