Garden Scarecrow Salvage

04/25/2013

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

This little guy had seen better days. His shirt and hat were falling off. Both were very dry and disintegrating in my had. He was on his way to the dumpster when my cousin saved him.

She mentioned her mom was in need of some baby overalls for her scarecrow. I though how cute until I saw the finished product; what a great idea for repurposing a craft store scarecrow. In the fall you can find them at Michaels for just a couple dollars.

She inspired me to salvage my garden scarecrow. Aiden and I quickly made a quick selection of clothes from the goodwill bag. An old polo and one of baby brothers hats he had grown out of. The pants were still in great shape so we left those for now. Ours isn’t a classic scarecrow, but has its own personality. That’s what I love about this idea. You could even dress it up in a cute gown or change it out for the seasons. I’m already thinking of costumes for Halloween. And maybe a Santa suit for Christmas.

We are working hard to spruce up the garden and truly turn it into a great outdoor living space. Thanks to a partnership with Build.com we know right where to shop for all things home.  Our little backyard is next on the list for updates and improvements.
