Choco Peanut Butter
This summer our family is enjoying the benefits of almond milk.  We have been working hard since our kids were born to introduce healthy, whole foods; a diet rich in vitamins and nutrition.  I’m proud to say that both our boys have a wider palette than their mom.  One thing we can all agree on are smoothies with almond milk.

With 50% more calcium than milk, almond milk is a great choice for my growing boys.  And with only  35 calories the #SilkAlmondBlends are a great choice for a delicious and nutritious smoothie base for mom too.  I love the Silk® Protein+Fiber Almondmilk  for a great morning start packed with 5 grams of protein and fiber.

Our favorite almond milk recipes are green smoothies.  The unsweetened blends are the perfect base without any added sugar., so you can control your sweetener.  Our favorites are honey and agave nectar, but we just discovered liquid stevia too.  We follow a basic recipe for all our green smoothies:  1 cup liquid, 1 cup greens, 1 cup fruit.

Ingredients:
1 c. almond milk
1 c. spinach
1 banana
1/2 tbsp. powdered peanut butter
1 tbsp. cocoa powder
1 tbsp. sweetener (honey or agave nectar)

Directions:
Add your ingredients to the blender in the order listed.

Select the smoothie setting if your blender has one, or start out on a low setting and increase to the highest until the contents are liquefied.

Add ice for a tasty frozen treat.  Adjust the peanut butter and cocoa powder based on the desired final flavor.  We picked up our Silk® at Safeway.  They had a large selection including sweetened and vanilla varieties.  These would pair nicely with the recipe and eliminate the need for honey or agave.

Almond milk isn’t just for smoothies and over cereal.  It goes nicely in many other recipes, including this Vanilla Almond Chia pudding.
