“The most extraordinary museum you’ll ever hear.” The tag line for the MIM is truly an understatement. This museum is an overwhelmingly beautiful display of musical instruments spanning several eras and continents.
Our family had the pleasure of visiting just months after they opened in April 2010. I was blown away with the many resources and activities they had for families. The MIM quickly became a family favorite.
Tomorrow marks the opening of a new permanent exhibit honoring the King, Elvis that is. The day is filled with exciting events and performances, including the industries best Elvis impersonator. Make sure to stop by and get a picture with him at 11 or 2. We are looking forward to the family craft; decorating our own paper guitar cutout to take home. The house cafe is getting in on the action too with southern favorites like: sweet tea and Memphis-style BBQ. The exhibit will feature clothing, musical instruments and other personal effects from his career.
Check back next week for more detailed information on all the fantastic family and educational programs available, including information from an interview with Education Coordinator, Shelly White.
